Programs

Karadi is working to hard to develop new programs that may not provided by anyone else, specifically for the Aboriginal community.

2010/2011 will see some great new programs through Karadi including a Women's Leadership Course, Harmonize and Energize (Workshops around mental health and wellbeing), Grieving Support Group for parents and families who have a lost a child (inc stillbirth and feotal death) and some fantastic health based activities for families.

Karadi is in the process of becoming an RTO (Registered Training Organisation) and will also be offering some accredited training courses in the coming months.

Our new administration building will be built in the coming months and should be complete by October. When the new admin building is almost complete the current Karadi building will be demolished and rebuilt for larger program use.

No Karadi activities or programs will be disrupted through this process.

Karadi are hoping to build a Cultural Arts and Crafts workshop on the lower half of Rothesay Circle. This will allow us to run workshops and classes in preparation of our annual NAIDOC art exhibition.

Community Consultations regarding the development of the centre will be held throughout the last half of the year at Karadi.

Several Healing Retreats will be held throughout the year this year. These retreats will run in conjunction with Ruth Langford.

Lorraine is running the HACC day centre on Tuesdays and AHACC on Thursdays 10am - 2pm. This program is for the frail, aged and disabled. We provide a hot lunch once a week with activities, as well as regular outings.

Please call Lorraine if you are interested in attending.

Health Network Brokerage Program - UPDATE IN JUNE 2010 - This program no longer exists. Current clients who signed up for the service will now be covered by the new COAG initiative through the Medicare system. A mail out will be posted to current clients in the next few weeks explaing the details.

Just a reminder - Karadi's Work for the dole program no longer exists due to funding cuts and the new Job Network changes. We are very sad to see this program fold but hopefully it can be replaced in the near future.

For Karadi to continue to provide services the community need, we would love to know what the communities needs are.  Come and let us know what you need by joining in with “moaning” tea, community lunch or by just coming and having a cuppa and a chat.

Hope to see you soon

Cheers

Rachel
